About Entre Raíces y Rutas

Entre Raíces y Rutas lives in the space between where we come from and where we’re brave enough to go.

The raíces are everything I carry with me: my Latina identity, my family, my culture, our stories, and the traditions that shaped me. The rutas are the roads I’ve traveled, the flights I’ve boarded, the mountains I’ve climbed, and the unexpected detours that have taught me something about the world—and myself.

This blog is where the two meet.

How My Journey Began

To say I’m proud to be Latina would be a serious understatement. My identity is woven into every part of my life, including the way I experience travel.

Growing up, however, I didn’t see many Latina travelers showing me what was possible. I didn’t have someone who looked like me telling me that I could explore unfamiliar countries, travel independently, take risks, and create a life filled with adventure.

So, eventually, I became that example for myself.

Several years ago, I took my first trip outside the United States. At the time, international travel felt like something other people did—people with different backgrounds, more money, or some secret knowledge I didn’t have.

Then I did it.

That first trip showed me that the world was not as unreachable as I had imagined. It lit a fire in me that has never gone away. Since then, travel has become more than simply visiting new places. It has become a way to challenge myself, connect with people, and discover parts of myself that I might never have met by staying comfortable.

What You’ll Find Here

Entre Raíces y Rutas is part travel guide, part personal journal, and part community.

You’ll find practical travel tips, destination guides, honest recommendations, cultural experiences, photographs, and stories from the road. I’ll share the breathtaking views and unforgettable meals—but also the missed turns, uncomfortable moments, lessons learned, and realities that don’t always make it into the highlight reel.

You’ll also find reflections about identity, family, relationships, growth, and what it means to build a life that feels like your own.

Because sometimes the longest journeys are not measured in miles.

Who This Space Is For

This blog is written through the perspective of a Latina traveler, but everyone is welcome here.

It is for anyone who feels that pull toward something unfamiliar. Anyone who wants to experience more of the world but isn’t sure where to begin. Anyone learning how to follow their curiosity without leaving their identity behind.

Maybe you’re preparing for your first international trip. Maybe you’re looking for a place away from the usual tourist crowds. Maybe you want practical advice from someone who has made mistakes and figured things out along the way.

Or maybe you simply enjoy a good story that makes you pause and reflect on your own.

Whatever brought you here, there is a place for you at this table.

Why I Travel

I travel because I want to feel awake.

I want to watch the sunset somewhere I’ve never been. I want to walk through old towns, hear the stories hidden inside their streets, and try food I can’t pronounce correctly on the first attempt. I want to meet people whose lives look completely different from mine and discover the things we still have in common.

I want to hike the mountain, take the photograph, get a little lost, and return home carrying something I didn’t have when I left.

Travel reminds me that the world is enormous, but it also has a way of making it feel beautifully connected.

Come Along

My hope is that Entre Raíces y Rutas gives you more than a list of places to visit. I hope it gives you the confidence to believe that those places are within your reach.

You do not have to wait until you feel completely ready. You do not need someone else to give you permission. Sometimes you only need a little information, a little courage, and a reminder that someone like you has done it too.

So bring your curiosity, your adventurous spirit, and a comfortable pair of shoes.

There is a lot of world waiting for us.

Let’s explore it without forgetting where we come from.
